It's early days for me, only having done under 3k, but another happy owner here. I came from a slightly more powerful car (207 Gti) and whilst I'm still retraining myself how to drive after the pug, it's great fun.NickW wrote:Hi folks, I'm about to buy a new blue GT but just having second thoughts given the price. Is everyone still happy with there cars? I would like some reassurance that I'm doing the right thing. Currently drive Mk 5 Golf GTi with DSG, now looking for smaller more economical car. Your thoughts would be appreciated..
I'm logging my fuel in an app on my phone and I'm averaging about 43mpg. It would be higher (I usually register 50mpg on the trip by the time I get to work) but when my hubbie gets hold of it..! I know real world mpg is always less than they advertise due to the way they skew the tests, but this is worse by some margin than the last two cars I've had (35mpg v 42 claimed and 45 v 47ish in a little Clio).
The tyres for me won't be much cheaper than the 207 as they are the same size, and it'll be interesting to see how they wear given people on here are getting way better wear out of them than I did in the Bridgestones, avons I had on the previous car. I will look forward to a £20 car tax renewal letter though!
