Vetech discs and pads are shocking for quality. All they do is squeal generally

Have you got a TPS near you?

All of the above are available in the vw economy range for not much more and you have peace of mind in it being a genuine approve vw part

cheap for a reason then!
think I'll give them a miss and give vw a call.

what is this eco range?

They told me before the make an eco alternator for roughly 180 squid but no longer make the original.

TPS (the trade parts specialists ie vws trade outlet) now produce a range called economy parts which are simply vw quality parts at have been slightly modified to better suit the needs of cars over five years old

Cost savings have been made in minor changes to materials, reduced packaging and general modifications, but the performance is in no way effected

1J0698451P rear brake pads / JZW698451A economy rear pads

6N0615601A rear discs

6N0513031T rear shocks

Sadly the suspension GTI parts aren't on the economy range - the correct part numbers are above however so you can use them to with go genuine via TPS or with GSF, but try go for the premium range and wangle trade discount.

gone onto mister auto and they sell monroe shocks £30.05 each with that part number you gave me! So £60 odd is not too bad I think. What do you reckon? Also are these straight forward to fit? I have fitted suspension before so is there any specialist tools I need?

Seems reasonable

The rears are easier then the fronts. You should probably get your hands on a set of spring compressors though if you are running stock suspension it's generally easy enough to do the rears without

Other than that, you've just gotta move the exhaust out the way to get to the lower bolt

Make sure also you note the order and orientation of the top mount bolts as you remove them

cool.

Also do you happen to know the part numbers i'd need for alternator/tensioner/belt so I check their prices as vw want £180 for a new eco alternator so wanted to compare prices?
Apparently the alternator is 90amp but i'd prefer 120amp as of stereo and other electical stuff going in the car but if not 90 will do!

JZW903021EX TPS list as £107.89+ VAT

90A will be ample. Only the tdi models need 120s and even then it's overrated

Belts and tensioner - you meaning aux belt or cam belt and tensioner?

not cam belt but the alternator belt (is there only 2 belts on the car?).
cannot find a bosch alternator with corresponding part numbers that match yours.

Use SAVE15 promo code and you'll save 15% on it all too :)

They will load a 100 quid deposit on for the alternator, as you have to return the old one to them in exchange
