You were correct Ciclo. While using a multi-meter across the fuse contacts from the outside (the 2 contacts accessed through the face where the rating is marked), there was continuity showing, but pushing the probes in must have been pushing the break in the fuse together, with a current draw through the lights stopping continuity. Now all I have to do is get the high level brake light out as this doesn't work while the LH/RH brake lights do work.

Car has a mind of its own, 3rd brake light didn't work after replacing fuse but after a drive it started to work, although the "light out" warning light stayed on dash. Talking to daughter, who's car it is, appears that the warning light is now off. I assume that it will have re-set after a few cycles of ignition, and will scan it at the weekend to confirm no error messages are stored.

Yes, clears code faults (DTC's).
Usually with an ignition cycle it is enough for the warning light on the dashboard turn off.

You're a good father. :wink:

Hello from Greece.First of all, i would like to kindly ask forgiveness for my bad english.

Just had a problem with short-circuited battery that caused many problems. Starting with flashing dashboard, not turning the motor on, brake lights and direction lights not working. After a few minutes waiting, the dashboard finally stayed lit and then brakes indicator started flashing and beeping. After starting the engine by wiring to another car, the lights insisted staying off plus i lost the electric assistance of the steering wheel. I changed the battery but the problem with the lights keeps happening.

If i understood correctly, number 43 of the fuses has to be replaced?

Thank you for your patience 8)

Battery--->Fuse SA3(110A engine vain fusebox)--->Fuse SB43 (15/20A supply for Blinkers, brake lights)--->T73b/13 BCM--->BCM---> Blinkers, Brake lights.

Do you have VCDS?
