2016 GTI LED FOG LIGHT BULBS

Post by flyjakey »

Hi All just wanted to share my experience of fitting LED Foglight bulbs , Did you wonder what that strange looking piece of bent wire was in the boot ? Well its to take of the fog-light surrounds and yes its hard and scary cos you so think they are gonna snap but i did mange to get it off whole after a lot of pulling and one small scratch on the paint , you also need a small torx's driver to remove the 2 screws holding the light in ! The whole job only took about 30 mins and the look is so much nicer ! The bulbs are by Cree and they have a 3 year warranty and are For CanBus so no light on the dash !

Linkl To a short video I made you can see which part you take off on the floor https://youtu.be/8xWapipsLkA

You can also use the funny bent wire to remove the caps on the wheel nuts

Thanks for this post. The yellow looks really weird compared to the LED's of the headlights

Do they work just as well?

Really nice upgrade Jack! I know what I'm buying on pay day! Thanks for the post. I'll tape up the gloss bits before attacking the surrounds, I did the same on a 6R and know how difficult they are to pull off without thinking you're going to break something.

But the burning question is, are they worth a punt and is there a useable amount of light emitted?

Or is it form over function?

A lovely picture 8) . If the Earth's atmosphere was totally clean the Sun would be whiter than fog lights. :)
hmm... supposedly the aircrafts are going direction to Europe. :?:

Some time ago I did a similar process.

They do look a whole lot better but do they actually put out more light?

Maybe a bit early to think about this, but in UK does the MOT check for front foglight function, if so, maybe they would fail the car as I don't think that any aftermarket LED bulbs are approved for use "on the road" - correct me with I'm wrong, I was going to get hold of some Philips Extremes etc to correct the colour.

IIRC the front fog lights are not mandatory... WRC? R models?
