There are two versions of the brakes control units. Bosch 8,2 and Bosch 9,0.
Bosch8,2 came for cars up to 06.2012 year.
Bosch9,0 came for cars since 06.2012 year.
The versions has some differences in socket wiring and codings:
There is possible to retrofit ESP9.0 instead of ESP8.2.
Some guys in Russia retrofit ESP9.0 instead of ABS8.2.
But I am not sure is the 8.2 could be retrofitted instead of 9.0 because of possible incompatibility with wheels sensors.
Here is information which I collected and systematized concerning Polo's ABS with ESP coding calculating. The sourses were Polo hatches an polo sedans in Russia. extra Skoda Fabia
For simple ABS this could be helpful also, but as a rule some bytes in simple ABS have values
