Re: Retrofit golf mk7 steering wheel on polo mk5
Hello all
Recently, I got a 2015 Polo 1.2 TSI DSG (Typ 6R/60 "IND")
Unfortunately, half it's steering controls are broken
I was searching around and have seen that used Golf Mk7 steering wheels with controls and paddle shifts can be had for around the same price of a new set of steering buttons.
Here is a picture of the existing steering in my car

This is the type of steering I have in mind:

Will the above steering and paddle shifts work in my car?
I notice that in Golf 7 steering, left side controls are almost exclusively for cruise control - my car does not have cruise control, but if I retrofit cruise later on, can I use these buttons instead of changing my left stalk?
Here is the current BCM in my car
Thanks for all your help
Cheers

Re: Retrofit golf mk7 steering wheel on polo mk5
Hello everyone ! (Sorry for my english)
Did someone found, how to have the light on the steering wheel ? Do I need to change my BMC ?
I have a polo 1.2 TSI R-Line 2012 105cv and I change the airbag wire (ref: 7EO971584C) because at first I lost the honk and the light and when i changed the wire the honk came back but still no light.
If someone have any advice. thanks

In order for the multifunction buttons to light up on that steering wheel model, you must install a BCM PQ25 from 2015 onwards.
The easy way is to buy a BCM with the same specs.
VCDS, a very easy procedure. http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.ph ... rol_Module

Re: Retrofit golf mk7 steering wheel on polo mk5
Hey ciclo! I recently bought a mk7 wheel from china with ACC buttons for my 2012 Polo sedan(Vento) 1.6 TDI. The current BCM in my car is 086D and my car did come with media control buttons on the steering from the factory. I know an MQB steering is a not a straight swap, but i expected the new steering to work "incorrectly" atleast(buttons not performing assigned function) but as it currently stands, the steering doesn't work at all except for the horn. I also tried switching to a 087F BCM to see if that would change anything but its the same, the buttons neither light up nor do they function. I do see an error in VCDS in the CAN gateway(19) saying "00470 - company comfort databus in single wire 011 - open circuit steering". I have attached photos of the steering and the wiring, let me know if you need any more info.ciclo wrote: Fri May 05, 2023 4:20 am In order for the multifunction buttons to light up on that steering wheel model, you must install a BCM PQ25 from 2015 onwards.

Re: Retrofit golf mk7 steering wheel on polo mk5
Hello.
MFSW Coding:
A4FFFF manual gearbox.
A5FFFF automatic gearbox.
The airbag wiring is probably not correct. "00470 - company comfort databus in single wire 011 - open circuit steering"
Better images of all the airbag wiring connection points should be seen. (to the airbag)
As mentioned above for the button backlighting it is necessary to install a BCM from 2015 onwards.
The ACC buttons will not work, now... or ever.
They could work as CCS if you install a module called Cruise Control 'Emulator' and a BCM that supports CCS.

Re: Retrofit golf mk7 steering wheel on polo mk5
I dont see the MSFW in VCDS yet to code it. My current BCM is 087F, which theoretically should support button lighting. I have probably been through all of those forums you listedciclo wrote: Tue Jan 28, 2025 4:01 am Hello.

Re: Retrofit golf mk7 steering wheel on polo mk5
Testing phase:
- Remove and isolate (do not cut) the blue/white T12/8 wire from the yellow connector.
- Temporarily remove the Chinese emulator...
- The white and "green" T5/4 wire is intriguing... , from the pictures it seems to be connected to the white and blue wire. Check if it is well spliced.
According to ETKA, 6R0 or 6RU937087F BCMs are older than 2015, so theoretically they should not support button illumination... Check it out.
Post a scan with the current BCM coding.
