I ordered my Polo GTI 2.0 Plus in April 2018 I am still waiting ! I was told to expect it in July 18 then Sept 28 then Dec 18 and now I’ve been told I may not get my car until June or Sept 2019. I keep checking on MY VW and it’s still only at level 2 with no sign of a build date. I initially received no updates from the dealer in Loughton, Essex and had to keep phoning to enquire. The salesman promised to keep me informed, he didn’t. I went into the dealership and asked to see the manager, the Manager didn’t appear, instead the Salesman just whimpered on about unforeseen circumstances outside their control ??? To say I was/still am frustrated is an understatement. That Salesman left the Dealership, and I am now dealing with a very helpful person who sympathises with me and the situation and has given me a free service on my existing Polo GTI as a gesture of good will. After all I shouldn’t have this car now and wouldn’t be paying for services or MOT’s for 3 years. I just don’t get what the hold up is ? New build GTi’s are being delivered to the dealership so I don’t get why there is still no build date for mine. It’s now nearly a year since I paid the deposit on my new Polo GTI
This beggars belief. Also my car is depreciating in value since the part ex deal was negotiated so what will happen come D day ? Is anyone else in my position ? Can anyone offer any advice please ? I just can’t imagine ever getting this car. I was told initially the hold up was due to the factory being closed, then told they were having to carry out emissions tests ? I now understand that if and when the car does get built that it could take a further 2 Months to ship it from South Africa to the UK ??!!
If I didn’t love and really want this car so much I would have demanded my deposit back and gone to Audi long ago.
I sympathise with you, alot of us in this forum are in exactly the same position as you.....
Me and John Polo both ordered the same date in January 2018 (whilst they seem to have lost his order behind a cabinet initially) we both have build dates now, my app updated middle of Jan this year to advise me of a build date W.C 04/03/19 so given you ordered in April I would assume your a few weeks behind us which would make sense if they are now building via order date (but this would require logic, which based on who did and didnt get their cars in the first wave pre WLTP is a giant mystery).
Like you I have a current GTi which funnily enough went for its Service and MOT yesterday (funded by VW) seeing as the new car should have been here 6 Months ago - one of the first things I did when this mess started to unfold was enquire on the Part X which we signed in January to make sure I would not loose anything come the new car arrival - I got a letter in writing confirming the part X would be honoureed at what was signed at regardless of the delivery date for the new car.
The frustration has been testing to say the least, before the latest update id lost total interest in the car (there is only so many reviews you can watch on You-Tube to keep you enthused), but I want the car and seeing how long I have waited I would be silly to pull out at this stage and would loose out massivley on the difference in value now if Part Xin with Audi or something similar.
The factory does seem to be picking up momentum now so hopefully your build date is right around the corner - stick in there!!!! If the comments Monkey and Barry have made about the cars are aything to go by its totally going to be worth the wait!!!!!
Hopefully Im not far away now - will have a few queries when it does eventually get delivered such as the Winter Pack (now missing components since ordering).
Out of curiousity what was the spec of your Car on order?
Thank you so much for your reply. It's actually reassuring to see that others are in the same position. I thought I was alone until I found this forum ! I am wondering if the My VW App is updating correctly and can see from other posts that there has been a problem with updates on some orders. Other than the dealership who would I call to get a more accurate update ? Would it be VW Head Office ?
I am going to wait, however long it takes as I am so in love with the Polo GTi, I can't imagine driving any other car. I am excited to read that the new Polo GTi is a much improved version.
I have just checked my order re the spec and I have added the following:-
Metallic Paint (Black) -KA1 Rear View Camera-18" Brescia Black Diamond Wheels-QH1 Voice Activation
Out of interest what does the winter pack consist of ?

Welcome to the club. Your wait in months is around the same as mine and and a few others. Mine ordered January 2018, VW UK tell me it is confirmed for a build in the first week of April 2019. I've had this confirmed twice now by different head office staff, however the dealership say they can't see this on their system. (Last spoke last friday)
My app doesn't update either but as I've said before I think its timed out as it asks me if I have the car.
We now know that they had to redesign the exhaust system to pass the new emissions test. Doesn't sound as good if the videos are to be believed. (Monkey is going to be uniquely placed to test this when he has 2 GTIs sat side by side. [emoji6])

Hi
Thank you for your reply. So you ordered 3/4 months ahead of me, I think I should call VW Head office for any updates as my local dealership only seem to get the same info as we get on the My VW App which doesn't appear to be accurately updating ? And yes like with you the App is asking me if I have the car ??!!
I ordered in July and have a confirmed build date of week 10...w/c 11th March '19.
Strikes me that some dealers haven't been so keen on following up on customer orders as others.
Mine has been pretty good, giving me a call every 3 or 4 weeks keeping me updated.
Only once did he not call back but that was down to him not receiving notice of me returning one of his calls.
I have a build week 4 March but my dealer emailed today to say the car is being built this week. Not sure if he meant the week just gone or next week. Either way it’s earlier than the tracker which still shows WC 4 March

The VW tracker / tracking app is notorious for being inaccurate or slow to update, so can’t really be relied on. You could try contacting VW Customer Services who may have more accurate update information.
The winter pack includes heated seats and a low washer fluid warning light.

More often than not, the tracker seems to get the build week wrong by one week, so I suspect the dealer is correct and your car will be built this coming week (w/c 25/02).

Same built date as you. Really hoping everything goes smoothly now and there are no more delays. Maybe your tracker will update on the 4th of March to say it's In Transit.
I don’t think the vw tracking system is all it’s meant to be, yesterday I got an email informing me that the car was almost ready for delivery (which it isn’t), the email included details for me to pay to balance of the amount. Something I have no intention of doing until I’ve seen the car on the forecourt prior to the pdi

The fact that I'm buying a second one and kicking a Golf R into touch should tell you how much I like the car!
The GTI+ is a bargain next to the Golf GTI which is now heading north of £30k in RRP.
My second looks like it will be built within 5 months of order placement, yet I see others waiting 14 months. Mine is being fulfilled by the fleet arm of the dealership group, and there in is the answer to waiting times, I think.
It seems clear that dealership allocation for the Polo GTI is low through retail channels, and broker orders going through fleet sales seem to be getting fulfilled quicker.
Hang in there, the + is worth the wait for the fact that it is bristling with tech, and performance is good - great if not on Flintstone Turanza tyres. Changing mine out this week has greatly improved the drive in mine.
What tyres have you gone for Monkeyhanger? I usually have a preference for Michelin, I believe Pilot Sports will fit the Brescias
They're not noticeably wider overall (the sidewall has less of a taper to the tread face), they have a good lip on them for rim protection, and no issues with clearance.
The 225s are a lot cheaper than 215s too - about £100 fully fitted each, vs £140 each for the 215s.
Grip is a lot better once rolling, they're conifer and quieter, just surprised they don't retard tramping from a standstill. The Bridgestones spin up when pulling away in 1st with 30% throttle, with the PS4s it's 50%.
PS4s don't tramp in the lower end of 2nd gear with a lot of throttle like the Bridgestones do though.
Polo GTI
5k per annum Initial rental £2000.00 + vat 23 x Monthly Rental: £139.99 + VAT
8k per annum Initial rental £2000.00 + vat 23 rentals £149.99+vat
10k per annum Initial rental £2000.00 + vat 23 rentals £159.99+vat
Add £12 + vat a month for Metallic paint
Add £24 + vat a month for GTi Plus
Also, Golf 1.5 £109 + VAT and Leon 1.5 just £70 + VAT for 5000 miles
^ For most PCPers looking for an equivalent comparison, take a GTI+ at 10k miles pa, total cost is £6632 - I assume there is at least £180 + VAT brokers fee to add in the mix, maybe as much as £300 + VAT.
Without broker fee, that's a flat £276pm over 24 months, with broker fee it's about £288pm
With a broker sized discount, that car will lose you a max £9850 over 36 months (to GFV of £11500), plus about £3k interest, coming out at A flat £357 a month (nothing down as deposit). Chances are though, you'll have at least a grand equity (maybe £1500) at the end of your PCP. Based on clawing back a grand, that brings the PCP proposition of saving £28-41 A month against the next VW.
It beats PCP, if you don't add options (which really hike up shortish term leases as you pay the full cost of those options over the term), but doesn't beat cash on the assumption it'll be worth £13k px at 3 years old.
If you haven't got cash and want to dip into the options bin by at least £1500, you'd probably be better off PCPing (Just!).
I think £230 A month put away will cover the depreciation of my cash bought GTI+. with Brescias, Nav and camera.
