Instrument Cluster swap, need information

Post by mahesh_parmar »

Hello everybody.
Firstly, I want to congratulate for the excellent forum to have here :)
I have thought of changing my cluster to an MFA +, but my car is a diesel, with the polo 1.2 TDI engine Is it possible? I've read somewhere that the Amarok TDI gives someone confirm?
Thanks in advance :)

You can have the amarok cluster but you need to change some parameters in the eeprom like fuel tank size and wheel circumference. Also no power steering warning light.

You can have a polo gti/GT cluster but these don't have a coil light and dpf light.

You can have a seat Toledo TDI cluster which doesnt have to many technical drawbacks but has a different look than the VW clusters.

Swapping a cluster will require some work on your immobiliser. You need specialized tools for this. Don't do it yourself unless 100% sure. I recommend to get a cluster with a matched key. If you have a vw radio, make sure you have the code. If you have a vcds cable, save your abs coding. And don't put in the cluster just for fun because nasty things will happen.

You can also use clusters from Skoda Fabia 5J (after facelift) and Skoda Rapid cars with diesel engines.

Just be aware that if you use the boards from Seat or Skoda on the VW cluster shell, you will possibly need to relocate the leds for the turn signal indicators. It's something simple but requires soldering iron or the equivalent heat gun tool they use on board repair.

Hey iichel, I just got a Amarok cluster for my polo. The info on changing the fuel tank size, wheel circumference and power steering warning light seems to be scarce on the internet. I have tried searching the russian forums as well, couldn't find concrete info on what values I need to change in the EEPROM to get it working properly. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey iichel, i have fixed everything but the fuel guage. For some reason, it seems to be stuck on using the 45L guage even when i have two sensors enabled everywhere in the EEPROM. If you could send your SW1009 55L EEPROM it would make things easier for me. Any help would be appreciated.

Current SW1009 EEPROM: https://drive.google.com/file/d/169zDAx ... sp=sharing

Edit: My car has a 55L tank and i have tried another maxidot from a friend with SW0709 and it works perfectly. I have adapted the above file using his fuel characteristic values.
