Polo gti top speed with GPF

Post by DKPOLOGT »

Hello folks.

Looking in the owners manual, i see that the gti with GPF, has a top speed og 240kmh. The filterless engine has a top speed of 237kmh.

How come? Anyone?

Someone on the Golf GTI forum showed dyno runs of a Golf GTI with and without GPF. The one without had more useable midrange, the one with GPF had a marhinally better top end. Seems it is all in the official map which is slightly different for variants with and without GPF. They also showed drag races of both cars and swapped drivers to be sure it wasn't driver competence giving advantage for 1 car over the other. The GPF equipped Golf was significantly left behind early into the drag race and clawed some of that back later into the race when the slightly better top end response came into play.

Either way, not a bother.- my 2018 GTI+ without GPF has noticeably better midrange response than my wife's 2019 GTI+ with GPF, so seems to follow the Golf's example. I do prefer driving mine to hers because the mid range is more important to the top end in everyday driving.

Did you notice though that the weight of the 2 cars are the same, implying that the GPF is very light, seemingly not affecting the kerb weight at all. The DSG box seemingly is 30Kg heavier than the manual one. That is one hell of a difference.

Not sure about it since VW need to write top speed to "certificate of roadworthiness" (not sure if that is right name in UK but it is car identification with bunch of information about car, some rules like tires, etc.) and it says 240kmph with gpf and MG6

I’ve seen a handfull of dyno reports with polo gti and GPF.
They all put down around 345nm og torque, and 205-210hp.
Here is a print, before and after remap, but lets concentrate on the stock power.

Please note the high temp!

And another one, from the video. https://youtu.be/vH7DGM8O9fQ

There was a group test in which the Polo GTI was up against its peers and it beat them all by virtue of its torque. They dynoed all the cars and most were around or just under for power and peak torque. If I remember rightly, rhe 2018 GTI+ was putting out 208ps and a whopping 372Nm. My 2018 GTI+ is noticeably torque than the wife's 2019 GTI+.

No, only remap and 100 ron fuel.
The IC should be the bottleneck.
