6R Headlight mounting

Post by POLOZ »

Hi Guys,

I am currently building a CAT N 2012 Polo Match. It has a light Wing damage (Fender bender :P ) So I have a replaced it with a after market wing that came pre painted.

I installed the new wing yesterday and somehow my headlight is not sitting right :(

I am not sure if the mounting bracket is to blame?

Is there a way to adjust the bracket? As I can't see anything that can adjust it?

the arch that runs below the headlight (the black plastic one) has two holders in them. you can use them to adjust the height of the headlights

You can remove fog light trim, to access them from underneath

Thanks Guys for the help.

Unfortunately the bracket on Polo's are non adjusting. The screw only tightens the mounting bracket.

However, it turned out that the wing bracket was also bent :( So after a few hammer and alot of adjusting I got the gap sorted. There is still a very tiny gap but I don't have patience to fiddle with it anymore.
It matches the driver side so I am happy with it :)

I finish very late in evening so will post pictures in the morning.

on each bracket for the headlight you will have these two kind of brackets.
Image The headlight clips into them.

They are held in by one bolt, the bolt head is visible from underneath. If we are thinking on the same thing.

Yep exact brackets, however they can't be adjust as the bolts only tighten it into place. I couldn't find any way to raise or lower it with the bolt

Try bolting it but not to tight so you can move it, but not to loose it doesnt want to hold the position. Then push it until you like the gap?

The thing is I bought a branch new pre-painted wing from ebay and the quality of it turned out to be shocking :(

I am quite sure it will prevent me from getting a perfect fitment

The paint doesn't even match, the seller is suggesting my paint has faded

You can give a polish with a wool pad even on a drill. If you have a DA sander that will also work much better and some cutting paste. Yeah, replacement parts aren't really 100 % true to the original.

Do you mean polish the replacement panel? The new panel has a blueish tint :(
