Re: Oug8 update showing in car, could not download
I finally got this today. Though quite why it then took so long to then download 138MB is beyond me!
Even a half decent 4g signal should give you a real world download speed of at least 1MB/s. Meaning this download should be completed in under 3 minutes. In reality it was chugging along for more than 30 minutes to download it (decent 4g signal).
Not like it gives you any idea what it fixes / updates.
The over the air updates are a decent enough idea. But yet another thing that in my opinion VW have not implemented that well.
technology... you have to laugh at times.
Edit:
Found this comment on a T-roc forum (same infotainment system maybe).
This update improves and stabilises:
The update process including cyber security patch
The user management
Privacy settings
The network connection
The display with upgrades
The statutory emergency call e-call
The GPS accuracy of the navigation
Automatic trigger detection
Data transmission
Pop up LED and audio behaviour
Redial
We Connect remote functions

Re: Oug8 update showing in car, could not download
Hello, is there somewhere that we with the pre-facelift models can check our software version and is up to date and if not, download and install it through the SD Card slot? Or do we just rely on the dealers to do this at service times please?SRGTD wrote: Tue Jul 18, 2023 9:43 amYour car is a pre-facelift Polo (AW model) and OTA (over the air) updates aren’t available for your car (or mine either - a pre-facelift 2020 Polo GTI+).grazuncle2 wrote: Tue Jul 18, 2023 9:32 am please excuse the questions (and offering no help either)
is this software updating for the car (ECU?), entertainment module or what.. not even heard a little of this previously.. I don't get any messages; too low in the model range perhaps?
@LEEA123; as @MarcoPolo20 has said, it’s probably a (server?) issue at VW’s end, so I’d suggest leaving it a few days and then try again.

Re: Oug8 update showing in car, could not download
My car’s a pre-facelift GTI+. Dealers supposedly used to check to see if there were any software updates when customers’ cars are back at the dealership for servicing. Whether or not they still do I have no idea.MilgeS wrote: Sat Sep 09, 2023 7:24 am Hello, is there somewhere that we with the pre-facelift models can check our software version and is up to date and if not, download and install it through the SD Card slot? You can check your car’s infotainment system software version by going to the main ‘Settings’ menu - bottom right in first picture below - and then select ‘Systems Information’. The version in my car is as per the third picture below; I have no idea if it’s the latest version or not for my car (apologies for the odd reflection on the pictures and the lopsided third picture). I didn’t click on the ‘update software’ bar at the bottom of screen in the third picture - I assume nothing would happen if I did as presumably the car needs to be connected up to VW’s systems at the dealership to check for updates and only if updates are available would the ‘update software’ bar work.
From a personal perspective, if everything works as it should (and it does in my car), then I’m happy with the existing software version whether it’s the latest version or not. Lots of cases reported on forums of latest generation VAG’s receiving various software updates that aren’t as stable as the previous version, or the latest version is affected by bugs and gremlins that didn’t exist before.

Thank you for your help, I agree, if it's working then leave it alone!SRGTD wrote: Sat Sep 09, 2023 9:57 amMy car’s a pre-facelift GTI+. Re: Oug8 update showing in car, could not download
Mine only gets updates when it goes into the dealership for something, like it's first service at the end of this month.
I've never connected my car to receive them, can't be bothered. Probably an age thing.

These are the versions I see on my 2022 Polo. I _think_ I have the latest, but couldn't say for sure.

Re: Oug8 update showing in car, could not download
I’ve been seeing a pop up message on my infotainment system that I’ve got a software update, and when pressing okay the message usually says can’t update when vehicle is in motion. It says it will continue when stationary. I then accept that message and it goes away but there’s no progress bar or any other indication there is a software update. When I manually search for an update in the system, it has a blank page where the update screen is as if there’s no available update. Is a bit confusing as I know it hasn’t updated because every time I have pressed accept it says I’m in motion which I usually am but then I can’t seem to find the update when I’m stationary to start it, anyone else has this issue? It’s a facelift R line with the larger infotainment system.

use pull down menu, swipe left.
Then there will be updates visible.
Do you have a number in a circle in top bar of the infotainment?

Top marks. You were right.Maarten wrote: Mon Nov 27, 2023 9:24 pm Sometimes an update, sometimes a reminder

Sitting there was an update waiting for install. Something by the look of it to do with the "shop" on the infotainment system..
It took its usual glacial time to do the update. But it went OK.
Thanks for the heads up about this. I now know to keep an eye out.
