Long story, a VW garage took some screws out of my centre armrest when trying to stop an annoying rattle and never put them back. It’s a lost cause now. Does anyone know what kind of screws go where I’ve indicated?
This is the part https://www.lllparts.co.uk/product/6R08 ... itan-black but I can’t find anything about the screws.
Thanks.

Re: Armrest question
Don't think those are sold separate from the arm rest box.
Nothing shows on ETKA.
However, most trim screws around there 4,2x16 with part number N 906 986 06.
Given the round indentation left behind I would venture to say those are the correct ones to use.
I will check my car in a bit and see what's there.

Re: Armrest question
Actually, no, those are not 4,2x16.
Just checked. Can't see nothing in the garage right now with bad lighting.
Actually don't think there's anything there, but will check this evening.

Re: Armrest question
Appreciated! I tried taking out the ones where the hinge is but they were far too big.

Re: Armrest question
Interesting. I have no idea what's under there.
The felt lining seems glued to them. Not too sure I want to dig these out, but no harm if I need to (I think).
Seem to be small hex or torx head, but the lining doesn't help.
You sure there's nothing under there?

Re: Armrest question
So you're not missing any screws. They're in there. It seems they applied the flock to the screw heads as well.
Torx T20
M4.2x5
Overall length 7.8mm, so 8mm long.
Countersunk head, diameter about 7.2mm
Didn't check thread pitch though.

Re: Armrest question
Oh really. I could’ve sworn it looked different but maybe I was confused by the tape they stuck all over the armrest to stop the rattle.
Thanks very much for going to all that effort.

Re: Armrest question
No problem.
At least my curiousity was satisfied as well.
You never know what you don't know, so there you go, now you know.
