Polo 6C wing mirror glass (UK)

Post by JiSingh1 »

Hi all,

I have heated mirrors with adjustment but not folding.

Anyway, on both sides of my car the wing mirrors glass shakes over 40mph, I'm pretty sure this isn't normal lol. So I think the glue may have come loose or something.

However I'm looking on ETKA and unsure what is the correct replacement for the UK cars with my specification.

Without VIN, it's complicated.

I had the same issue few month ago.
Over 100km/h (so 60mph) the driver side glass was shaking as hell. I was thinking it was the hole mirror assy.

But no, glue was dead.

I don't remember if there any part number behind.

If you wan, go to your dealer and within 2 days, you will have a brand new glass.

Yes the glue is weak between the mirror glass and plastic carrier. You can remove it, and use double sided tape to attach it back on.

Hot melt glue-silicone-plastic applied with a hot gun is other option (4ever👍).
... be precise when placing/centers the support on the glass.

Is it possible to just remove the glass from the backing and just glue back on, meaning no money spent? :P

I may be dumb right now, but what is the difference between adjustable from inside mirrors (6XB) vs power-adjustable (6XD)?

Good question, it is to be imagined that there are differences in shape in the mirror housings/brackets due to the adjustment mechanisms used (manual vs electric) and consequently the glass supports/backing parts will also have some slight differences that force them to be identified as 6XB or 6XD.

Dumb is as dumb does.

Forgive my ignorance but does this come under manual (6XB) or electric (6XD)? lol.

6XD, obviously.

For manual adjustment there are no switches or electrical wires, it is done by means of flexible metal cables and with your own strength you move a knob so that the mirror moves.
It is similar to the driving force of some semi-ancient ships that used slaves to row in the galleys, that is, in the case of manual mirrors you are the slave.

I asked as I never seen any Polo 6C with manual adjustment so wasn't sure if I was misinterpreting or something! Okay thanks, I'll just try remove and refit the glass itself but will see how it goes

Asking is the right thing to do.

So I ask myself if in the 21st century we will be able to stop doing such obtuse things as manually adjustable mirrors.
