hello everyone,
what file do you use to update the cluster?

I can't find the FRF file with the 6R0920870 firmware

You can use other pq25 files and edit the eeprom.
What's the part number that you have now and why do you want to update?

long story sort ....
I updated my toledo's 6JA SW:711 cluster with amarok 2H0 SW:729.

The problem is that the mfsw’s right wheel that used to control up and down on MFD screen does not work, it works only in the phone menu.
All other buttons work ok, everything else seems ok, also tried 7E0 SW:720, also tried restoring backed up original SEAT eeprom with no luck.

SEAT and Skoda use wheels for volume and mfd up/down and seems that something is missing there, but why work only on one menu is a mystery. Also came to the conclusion that 6JA 711 firmware was in clusters that were produced long after the VW x7xx firmware, but together with the x8xx.

As I do not have access to my original frf file as it was not available on Erwin disks, using newer VW files x8xx or 100x seems a promising solution. There are references that people used these files but they are kept secret so I cannot find them.
I am open to suggestions / directions of any kind.
Hi, til3tsio, do you have any tips for the final version FL on your 6JA920840 IC?
I have a 6JA IC (SW: 6JA 920 940 C, HW: 6JA 920 940 C, H05 0709), and I hope it can be updated to 0805 for RTA. Thanks!
I saw that you said the MFSW’s right wheel does not work on 2H0 SW:729.

It did not work in my case but only because I have a Seat steering wheel.
Seat steering wheels have scroling wheels insted of the "legacy" up/down buttons .
I had to update to 1xxx firmware to fix this issue.

from erwin disks seems that frf software on 7xx do not support RTA , I have tested 5C6 710, 6JA 711, 7E0 720, 2H0 725
I have also tested 5C6 818 and it had RTA
2H6 1120 has RTA but I was not able to find out the corect wheel wheel circumference for my car.

there is also a "custom" 2H0 1009 obx file available that supports RTA.

if you go over 1xxx you are going to lose the green side assist led functionality
if you go to 818 and over something is changing on the security algorithm and you can not downgrade again to 7xx via obd and also you can not access it throught obd using cloned tools like fvdi 2014.

and of course any firmware that you try needs eeprom editing to adjust it to your cluster layout

Thanks for replying. 🙏
Sounds great. I’m excited to try 5C6 818 if I can find the FRF.
The side assist LED is fine; I didn’t add it to my IC.
I’ll back up my EEPROM before doing the update. By the way, is it necessary to back up the immobilizer to prevent any anti-theft errors?

There is always risk on updating software on all the modules.
I haven't faced any issues with immobilizer, but I definitely had to do eeprom editing.

In what car you are going to install it , a polo ?
What is it a tsi or a tdi ?
I can help with the file.

My original instruments were 6RF 920 861 D (H02 5006).
After changing to the new cluster, I used "VAG Dash Editor (24c32 & 24c64) V7.3" to edit the EEPROM and adjust it to my cluster layout.

RTA seems turned off in your scan.
If you turn it on does your abs and the rcd330 support it ?

These are good tips.
I found that CDRX and Robert (on the T6 forum) mentioned that I need to install a 1K8 PDC module (from 7E0 919 475 L) to activate RTA, along with ABS, an ABS sensor, Discover Media/Composition Media...
Well, maybe I should give up🤣

Today, I still tried to do something. 😅
First, I updated my PDC module to 7E0 919 475 AA and changed the coding to 30A001 (is this correct?) to enable RTA.
Second, I tried to update my IC to 5C6 818, but it failed (I tried vehicle projects VW25X and VW36X).
I also have 2H6 1120, but I know finding the correct wheel circumference is really annoying.

In VCP you have to do an extra step to trick the security algorithm using an older firmware for the firmware to update,
in odis I do not know. Maybe someone here can help.

You can use this service to convert frf to odx. And than manually change SA2 key. Also check "layer-refs"
String <LAYER-REF DOCREF="EV_KombiUDSVDDRM09_A05" DOCTYPE="LAYER" ID-REF="EV_KombiUDSVDDRM09_A05"/> consists A0x. This x MUST be the same as yours.

Thanks for the information.
My original IC is A04(EV_Kombi_UDS_VDD_RM09 A04723), and the "layer-refs" of the 0818 5C6 IC is also A04.
(LAYER-REF DOCREF="EV_KombiUDSVDDRM09_A04" DOCTYPE="LAYER" ID-REF="EV_KombiUDSVDDRM09_A04"/)
It's fine to upload the new FRF to the original IC, but it shows the following error:

Than it's really SA2 key fault. Try copy it from the other sw.

Than it's really SA2 key fault. Try copy it from the other sw.
I really appreciate it.
I changed the SA2 key, and everything is good—no errors occurred.
Now I have 5C6 818 and RTA menu.
However, I have a warning for the brake fluid level on the IC.
I'll check 0x2CB later to see what's going on. Thank you again!
