You can connect/splice it to the ground wire you have on the door, no problem with that, it's the same ground as the one represented in the diagrams.👌

It would only be necessary to take into account the wiring diagram in case of connecting a large consumer to a ground wire of the appropriate thickness.

Happy new year everyone.

Due to some health problems I was unable to proceed with the installation, even though I had a few days off due to the holidays.
I finally managed to do the first step of installing the radars yesterday.

Just a little teaser

Happy New Year 2025!
600lt rear trunk with a door that opens upwards, it's the easiest thing to work with.
Luckily because I was suffering from lower back pain.

Thanks for the get well wishes, I'm better.

Great 🤗, take it easy, I think the hardest part will be programming them due to VW's security measures.
Currently VW 'recommends' Geko account customers to delete/erase all flash files. The procedures have definitely changed. 💶 💵 💴 💷

Should I be worried about this?
The radars are brand new, so I don't think I have any problems with this.

Honestly, I don't know what to tell you about this at the moment because I'm not well enough informed about all the new changes in these procedures.
It will depend on the knowledge and updating of the ODIS operator at the location where the radars will be programmed.

Is it an official VW Group workshop/dealership or workshop with official Geko account?

I assume your workshop will inform you about this as long as they are fully up to date...🤷‍♂️

---

I suppose there would be alternative solutions if not possible, either downgrading those radars (if possible) or buying new ones that do not have CP, SFD, etc... like the 2QD radars I bought for my 2025 6R project on Ali. viewtopic.php?p=606266#p606266

The end of OEM retrofitting is approaching... We will have to retrofit with non-OEM parts and turn VW Group vehicles into something even worse...

Those are bad news for sure. I didn't know anything about that change.

The workshop i use to go to, is a friend of mine who specializes in VW group cars and has an official Geko account.
He allows me to use his equipment (ODIS) and I only pay for the time I am in the online system. I usually make the changes with his help, of course, because I don't have any experience.
My plan was (an still is) to go there, connect with his Geko account and remove the CP (component protection). After this, i will do all the other steps from my house, with my ODIS 5054A cable and with the files toy send me. (update the radars and download the datasets). I don't know if this is the correct procedure, what do you think ?

With the tools you have:
1- CP, and radar parameterization with your friend's Geko account and his official VAS. Take the parameterization file to your friend, maybe the VW servers are reluctant to parameterize/code/adapt the new radars 2024 in your Octavia via the online connection.
He can use the 'Guided function' for everything, but it is likely that the VW servers will refuse the installation of these radars in your Octavia.

The time working with the official VAS would cost you the same whatever the procedure applied. The more things you can do here the better.

2- SFD + Coding/Adaptation of all the units involved with your 'official' OBD11. (or official VCDS?/VCP?)

Your VAS5054A I don't think will be useful and will have limited functions for these 2024 radars, it should have the updated PostSetup, hacked by the very experts, which I think has not happened because it is better to have the lasts VAS6154 or VNCI 6154 and everything that it implies.

I think it's time for me to "invest" in a VAS6154 cable.
I have send you an email.

# BSD installation

Well, i have finished the physical installation of the radars at my car.

These are the original parts (right and left) that the BSD radars are mounted on in my car.
Image

So the first thing to do is to remove the rear bumper. In order to accomplice this, i had to remove the rear lights, and some interior trims from the luggage compartment.
And of course a lot of screws

With some effort and a lot of patience i managed to remove the rear bumper

Next step was to mount the brackets and of course the radars installation.

Now it's time for the fun part, the wiring.

#BSD installation, wiring

the schematic
Image

I read that someone use the rear camera wiring to connect the BSD radars with power and Canbus net.

this is the schematic of the rear camera wiring.
Image

The place of the rear camera wiring is very convenient, is at the right side of the trunk, and has an easy access. it is behind the luggage compartment side trim.

Image

I decided to use the same idea.

I also decided to use a 4pin connector for my convenience. This is the result.
Image

I root the wires thought the rubber gromets at both sides of the car.

And inside the trunk.

Connected my 4pin connector.

Done!!!

The only thing left is to root the wires (green and yellow) to the front doors for the notification indicator.

Well,
To tell the truth, I was a little worried if the connection I made was correct.
With ODIS E I can't see the sensors. I think that's logical since I haven't added their module to the gateway list yet.
With ODBeleven I get an indication that the sensors are alive. This it the printscreen.

Probably i am on the right way.

It's not probably, you're definitely on the right way.

---
As I already mentioned, your VAS5054A - ODIS E does not have the PostSetup for these '2024' radars.

You can now go to your friend's updated official VAS for CP, parameterization (data set), and everything you can do there.
