Hello,
All forums are a source of knowledge that remains over time. Unlike social media, knowledge is lost and is almost impossible to retrieve.
For me, this forum means a lot. I met people with a lot of knowledge but most importantly, with a willingness to help as much as they can. And I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributes to its operation, I know that it is not as simple as it seems to maintain a forum.
The fact that the forum does not have much "movement" does not mean anything, as long as people visit it.

I have learnt a lot from this forum and the knowledgeable members. A few times I have posted questions and received very helpful replies. Maybe the volume of posts is because ‘low knowledge’ people like myself have slowly discovered how to use the various pieces of equipment and features (toys!). In my case, being on my third Polo gti, maybe even for a slow learner like me () there is not much else to learn?

After some 2 1/2 years of ownership of my Polo GTI ... I discovered :

- You can't take the keys out the ignition if it's not in PARK. Silly me
- As you rev the engine, the graphics for highest digit that you hit on the rev counter "get larger". Never noticed this before.

I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me the first time I saw the rev counter graphics enlarge; it was probably three years into ownership of the car before I noticed it . I don’t have the car now so I could well be wrong, but I seem to remember the speedo does the same and the graphics are larger for the speed you’re travelling at.

Yes you are right, the speedo does that as well. I thought it was a nice touch when I first noticed it on mine.

Tried this suggestion today and it did not work for some reason. Heading past my local dealer tomorrow and will stop in ask the mechanic to assist. I'll update once I've been there.

I went to my local dealer today who informed me the control unit requires replacing as it is a "common" occurrence I was told. Can't say I've seen it mentioned here before, but there you go. Thankfully my maintenance plan will cover any costs incurred.

I can’t remember reading on this or other forums before of this ‘common occurrence’ of the control unit failing, so maybe it’s not that common? As you’ve said, fortunately your maintenance plan covers the cost.
