So I just pretty much did a DQ250 SYP to DQ500 SDM swap, all OEM.

What do you need to make it work?
Well… I know!

So let’s start with the gearbox itself, I took an SDM gearbox from a Passat 2.0 TSI CHHB Alltrack. QBB is pretty much identical.
VIN for reference: WVWZZZ3CZHE001852

You'll need a different, bigger flywheel. You could maintain your starter but I decided to take a new one as well.

Next up you’ll need a different final drive (the angular drive for the prop shaft to the rear). There are two options, the Linamar 0CP and the Magna 0A6 families. I went for the Linamar since it's broadly available.

The pendulum support is different and I decided to replace motor and gearbox mounts as well. I took the RS3 gearbox mount and an OEM engine mount.

For cooling you'll need to add a different regulator valve and some plumbing, since the DQ250 regulator sits on top of the gearbox. The DQ500 one will sit next to the engine water pump on the side of the gearbox.

The gear lever cable will fit your existing lever, just replace the cable 3Q0713266Q

The mechatronic is up to 2018 the continental one. You can not immo off it so you'll either have to learn it OEM via ODIS online, or you'll have to get yourself a Bosch mechatronic and kill the immo on that.

The wiring is very simple. The terminals of the DQ250 will fit the DQ500 plug.

So since you're all very interested in my DQ500, I'll tell you a bit more about my E85 Flex Fuel coming up.
Now it's not very popular here in the Netherlands but in for example France it's widely available.

It consists of two parts (as for every retrofit), it's hardware and software.

The hardware is:
- The sensor the Continental ethanol sensor 06H907811 /A, later went into the 06K907811 (also sold as 8K0907253 /A /B as a set with the bracket).
- 3-pin connector 4H0973703
- Some fuel quick connectors for 5/16 fuel line and 8mm hard pipes (amazon)

The wiring, we take it from a CFKA Audi A4 2.0 TSI EA888 engine

Pin 1 is power, terminal 87 from i.e. the diverter valve
Pin 2 is GND
Pin 3 goes to ECU pin 71 for Simos 18

It will require some modification of the ECU software:

Furthermore it needs to enable PID 52:

summary:
lc_fac_afu_ratio_conf = 00 (this will enable the sensor)
lc_fac_afu_ratio_man_act = 00 (this will disable the manual e-level in calibration)
c_state_srv_1_pid[N][10] is the bitfield that contains the PID for ethanol content (PID52).
2 new tables in the CAL, one as an ignition modifier (rpm vs airmass) and the other to scale the ignition modifier based on ethanol content.

I ordered all the parts and I'll wire it up soon.

Inspired by some posts on golfmk7.com

I'm mostly doing it for the nerd-factor and the possibility of being able to drive on sustainable fuels.
It might also come with a power boost, but I'm expecting to max out my stock internals.

The new rear differential in place :mrgreen: Drive shaft is 3 cm short though :lol: :lol:
I'll resolve it with an Arteon prop shaft probably, now it's a double hardi disc.

An older mod: automatic dimming passenger mirror

The RHD driver mirror is used as a passenger mirror in the LHD aplication

Parts:
- Mirror glass 3G0857522B
- Connector housing unknown PN (it came with my glass)

The wiring is very simple, just loop the driver mirror wiring to the passenger door, though the door, through the mirror and to the glass.
This will require a lot of work.
Coding is done in the passenger door module, byte 9 bit 0.

I never knew I could develop romantic feelings for brake discs, but you can.

The carbon ceramic brakes are installed along with the RS3 8V brake dust covers in both the front and rear (8V0615311B + 8V0615312B
I removed the RS3 brake coolers, to avoid them from shooting in stones, water and other crap that I don't want on my brakes.

It brakes very very well, the stopping power is amazing. I've hit ABS at 80kmh and I think I can probably go faster, but that would be unsafe I suppose.

I've also took the opportunity to retrofit the eBKV, the electronic brake booster als a replacement for the vacuum booster I had.
I figured it would be good to have the maximum available braking power at all times, and the big vacuum booster sometimes takes some time to 'reload'.

The wiring was very easy but troublesome, but it seems I simply had a faulty booster at first.

Basic settings went through with ODIS and all is good now.

So overall a nice retrofit, it finally works after a lot of headaches. And nice good braking. The pedal has a bit of a loose stroke at the initial press. I'll look into that further on.

Those brakes look overwhelming, a tremendous improvement... the braking improvement with that parts combination must be incredible. 8) Enjoy it!!
The setbacks experienced are part of daily learning, so there's always something positive to be found. 😁

hmm... in the image of the front wheel, it looks like you forgot the bolt caps at that moment... or are they capless for some special reason?

This was the first drive I made with the new brakes and the wheels have been off and on and off and on. I figured they might still need to come off again so I did not put on the caps just yet. I'm just very lazy in that regard, and it's a habit to torque down the bolts after a short drive too.

You should visit the Netherlands and have a drive in the car, just to try it yourself. We can ask Slavik to join too, I heard he is an incredible master of the BBQ.

Small pic dump, preparing some wiring for the illuminated door handles (powered by T20/3 F / T20/1 R + GND) and soft close locks (+30 and GND)
Also did some drilling to replace the lock latch with a powered one.
