Re: Polo 6R - Sanket's 1.0 TSI

Post by SanketM »

Hi guys,

I am preparing to retrofit the lane change change assist in my little 6R. Having done some research I have understood that one could go for 3 different options of radars.
1) 7E0
2) 5Q0
3) 2Q0

Feature and accuracy wise is there any difference or advantage of choosing one over the other? while In terms of availability and cost 2q0 and 5q0 seem readily available and cheaper while 7e0 is difficult to find & costly too.

From what I can guess from the information and experience at my disposal, the 2Q0 radars for the MQB platform or new models (2018 --->) provide better performance when interacting with other driving assistance systems, but I do not think there will be major differences with the 5Q0 radars if they are installed on the PQ25.
Both radars work equally well, choose the ones that will be easiest to install/program to you.🤷‍♂️

I guess you already know that I am now on the Lane Change project for my 6R. If you are patient enough to wait a month or maybe a little longer for me to finish it, I can assure you that you will make the right decision about which parts to use, both the radars and the BSD warning lights.

I have not yet revealed a secret in my LC project that, in addition to being unexpected, is devilishly perfect!!! 💎😮 (already tested 🧙‍♂️)
I don't usually reveal my 'special' ideas until the final results. 🤭

Thank you so much Ciclo, I was leaning toward the 2Q0 set because they were newer and easily available. But I am unsure of parameterising it correctly & mounting it as it's a path less travelled.

I am indeed closely following your LC project. The level of detail you have gone through testing different BSD warning lights is amazing. I'll keep up with your updates and look forward to you revealing the surprise :D. Till then I'll holding off my purchase of radars.

Cheers

Hi Guys,

I am catching up after a long time. A lot has happened since my last update on this thread.

1) Auto folding ovrm
2) Golf 8 Steering / CCE
3) Upgrade to the front brakes to 288MM on the 17" Skoda Vega alloys & the judder.
4) GTI Interiors
5) TPMS
6) Front seats re-upholstered

And a whole host parts lying around for planned upgrades

1. Fix the Horn Terminal.
2. Passat B7 Seat heating.
3. OVRM heating
4. Passenger door handle new handle to lock all doors.
5. Dynaudio Speakers (1K8)
6. HBA (7E0)
7. Rear Footwell Lights
8. 2QO BSD
9. Interior Alarm
10. Interior new Lights connection for the front, rear, boot & Sunvisor
11. DCC
12. 8k OPS
13. Kessy.
14. Dynamic 6c Flip Camera with a CAN converter.
15. central console button wiring for all buttons.
16. Connector for CCE (Wiring)
17. A new DIN65 battery
18. Driver side grab handle.
19. Fix Fuse Box Cover
20. Cigrette lighter ring.
21. Frameless wipers

Starting in September ’24, I managed to source a suitable steering airbag locally for the Golf 8 steering wheel and was finally able to install the CCE I received from our fellow forum member Madwarlock. It worked flawlessly from the start, but I wasn’t completely satisfied with the installation, as it was done hastily due to an upcoming trip. I had been eagerly waiting for this upgrade for nearly 1.5 years. (During the process of obtaining the Golf 8 MFSW, I was even scammed by a seller in Portugal for a substantial amount.) The mechanic I consulted ended up soldering the wires. 🫣 At last, I had the steering wheel functioning properly along with the paddle shifters.

Next, I had my Passat seats re-upholstered since they were in poor condition. Now, I finally have a comfortable seat to relax in. These seats proved invaluable during the recent Indian summer, where temperatures soared to 40 degrees Celsius, made even more intense by humidity exceeding 90%.

In October ’24, I purchased a new 5Q0 TPMS antenna from a Chinese seller on AliExpress with the intent to flash it with the 3AA firmware, as the genuine 3AA antenna with the “F” suffix was prohibitively expensive. At the same time, I bought a set of 3AA TPMS sensors. I installed everything, but the antenna refused to flash using ODIS or VCP. After researching, I discovered I wasn’t alone—others reported the same issue on drive2.ru with no known fix. The antenna could not detect the 3AA sensors, and even if it did, my cluster, running firmware 0729, likely wouldn’t display it.

This particular TPMS antenna was advertised as compatible with the MQB platform, but we also tested it on a 2019 Skoda Superb, where it failed as well. So, when buying TPMS antennas from Chinese sellers, be sure to do thorough research.

A few days later, I found and purchased a genuine 3AA907273B antenna. By then, the tire pressure sensors were already installed during routine tire rotation. I managed to flash the new TPMS module from firmware B to D using ODIS, but I still can’t get it to update to firmware F, no matter what I try. This is a Beru unit with specific hardware.

In December ’24, thanks to advice from our guru Ciclo, I was able to source the correct WRMs. Now, I can enjoy auto-folding OVRMs along with the comfort closing feature for the windows.

Between December ’24 and February ’25, I installed a new set of Brembo drilled front rotors. However, during installation, we found that the 288mm calipers were rubbing against the Vega alloys due to offset differences—the stock Portago alloys have an offset of 45, whereas the new 17" Vegas have an offset of 39.

To fix this, we installed 7mm spacers on both the front and rear. After returning the car to me, I noticed a pronounced vibration in the steering wheel at speeds close to 60 km/h, which made me hesitant to drive faster. Eventually, we discovered the alloys were not properly seated on the hub, so we reduced the spacers to 4mm. This resolved the vibration issue.

In March ’25, I found a great set of Polo 6C interior trims, including all the lights and alarm systems. I completed the month with a refreshed interior look. However, there was one issue: Indian Polos don’t come with a driver’s roof grab handle, so there was no mounting bracket. While I wait for the bracket to arrive, the interior is as it is for now. This has been added to my to-do list.

Last week, I planned to take my car to an authorized VW service center. Since I’m familiar with the VW service process, I removed the CCE and tried to get the horn working.

First, I attempted to reconnect the two cut ends of the LIN-BUS cable while keeping the ignition key in the ON position, but the horn didn’t respond.
cce-linbus.png
cce-linbus.png (390.25 KiB) Viewed 2454 times
Then, I tried starting the car with the LIN-BUS cables connected to see if the horn would work, but it still didn’t.

The next time I tried to start the car, it briefly started but then stalled, almost as if the immobilizer had activated. My suspicions were confirmed when I connected the ODIS diagnostic tool to the engine module and saw an error message that said something like “Immobiliser active ECU locked.” Additionally, I noticed that every time I tried to start the car, the instrument cluster screen would briefly go dark before lighting back up.

I reached out to a forum member, H2Deeto, to help check the cluster. After testing, I tried starting the car again, but unfortunately, it still stalled.

We then checked the ECU, and I obtained a dump of my MED17.5.21 ECU. H2Deeto kindly compared the immobilizer data from the cluster with the data from the ECU and confirmed they matched perfectly. Despite this, the car continues to stall after starting. My last resort is to disable the immobilizer, but I’m hesitant to do that since I’ve already purchased parts to enable KESSY.

During this time, my car’s battery also drained the next day. Although I charged the battery and cleared all DTCs before running a VCDS scan, errors persist for some modules, indicating voltage below the minimum threshold. I checked all fuses from fusebox slots SB1 to SB10, as well as 14, 19, and 22, and they all appear fine.

I suspect that while trying to reconnect the LIN-BUS cables, I may have incorrectly connected the wrong wires, possibly connecting T41/28 to ground, which might be causing these low-voltage errors. I plan to try using a different battery to see if that resolves the voltage-related faults.

Also, I’ve installed an MIB2 Discover Media system with the Green Menu Toolkit to disable the CP check. I’m mentioning this in case it might be triggering the immobilizer issue.

HI Michel,
Thank you for your response. Yes it's connected but I get your drift it might have got short circuited and not reading the key transponder for BCM, I'll try connecting another reading coil and see if that solves the ignition problems.

Thanks & Regards,
Sanket

My drift was more 'you did a lot of wiring stuff around the steering column and might forgot to plug it back'.
Been there, done that. Many many times.

Hi Michel, thanks for pointing that out. In past I have indeed done this mistake numerous time. Unfortunately it wasn't this time. But it was something on the similar lines. The fuse SB11 had blown up. I replaced it with a new fuse which I had received with the automatic headlights harness. ( Thanks for the gifts ciclo 👍😅) and now all is almost well. Except for one terminal 30 open circuit fault which I see in the BCM MAX 🙈

The car starts now. But I need to get to the bottom this terminal 30 open circuit issue before feeling confident enough to take it for a long drive.

Best Regards,
Sanket.

With guidance of Aditya, I have finally fixed the terminal 30 open circuit error by replacing the SB59 fuse. Now all is well again 🤞

Re: Polo 6R - Sanket's 1.0 TSI

Hi, everyone

So I and Sanket are installing OEM Kessy on his car.

Have already sourced the following parts
2x Front Door handles
2x Rear Door handles
Start stop button
Kessy module
J935 Converter box
Terminal 15 Relay
Starter relay
Centre console antenna
Rear bumper antenna
Rear passenger antenna
And necessary wiring harness.

The process of installation is the same as Mr. Collayder’s (Drive2)

Just for some info the car is 2021 year, with 1.0tsi Dsha Engine, 6R0 920 870A cluster(which had its issues) and BCM Max 090D

Now related to the cluster issue since it was used cluster we had to adapt it offline, but that was not successfull. Apparently one 1.0tsi DSHA engines for the immo to sync you need to upgrade the firmware to 0729. Once that is done everything was woking fine.

Now regarding Kessy

- Did the wiring for all doors and connected it to kessy module
- Did the wiring for antenna and connected it to kessy module
- Adapted the wiring for Ignition switch and connected it to ELV, Converter box, Terminal 15 Relay, Starter Relay
- only the signals for Converter box where controlled via ignition switch
- Since we had sourced a used ELV and Dashboard from Jetta. We were able to retrieve the data like CS and Pin
- Using the old CS and Pin from donor kit adapted the ELV to cluster using VVDI2
- Cluster config and status were changed from
Original Config - 610106110100
New Config - 61E106110101

Original Status - 140000F5FF
New Status - 140000F5D5

There was an error in Kessy module No Basic Setting which was cleared by Xhorse Iscancar MM 007

Now it was time to adapt the ECU to Cluster since post the changes to cluster the ECU lost its sync.

But apparently we are unable to do that. Tried Vvdi2, iscancar mm 007, autel 608 and even bench(which i am not sure whether it was done properly)

While adapting it the tool is not able to retrieve the power class.

Now some guys have told this is immo 5 and while others have told me immo 4c

Is there any way we can do this? Or its a dead end?
