Hi
I have the VW broken ignition lock problem with the stuck key.
I am trying to remove the plastic coverings between the steering wheel and the instrument cluster.
The top half is flapping around, but held in place by the instrument cluster.
I can't figure out how to release the bottom half. I have found the Torx screw.
Any tips would be appreciated.
How do I get the ignition key lock off?

you pull the part that is in the instrument cluster towards your self. Its just clipped in.
Then you will see torx bolts near the slip ring viewed from top ( birds eye persoective), and on the bottom trim underside there is an torx bolt

The lower half is installed with one torx screw. When removed, you can gently pull toward the bottom the part to remove it from the steering column assy.

Hi
OK thanks for the info. That will make it easier to work on the break-off bolts. I can't turn them to loosen them off. I am using a cold chisel to try and turn them. I may have to drill them out.
