Whereabouts is JBS though? No doubt all the way down south!

There is a place in the North West (I think its Only VW not sure though) offering a ECU upgrade giving extra 15bhp for about £350, a tad expensive but its not a days drive and £70 petrol.

JBS AutoDesigns is in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, not "way down South"

I think the easiest way in is off J29 of the M1? In my case, from the West Midlands, it'll be A38/A61.

Erm

IMO you will have to tell your insurers if you have the ECU remapped as it affects the performance of the car and will naturally increase your premium. If you don't tell them of modifications then you are effectively voiding your insurance, and if something were to happen (and I sincerely hope it doesn't) and you need to make a claim, they would probably reject it outright, if they find that the car isn't the same spec as described in your policy...

Yeh, but I think what he is trying to say is - if you have a crash and the inpector geezer comes out, is he gonna be able to tell whether its been done. I mean if you've got all sorts of Nitrous bottles in the boot etc then thats a bit obvious, but are the inspector geezers really gonna rolling road your car to check?

No

i cant see them being able to tell

using Vag com wont even show you map settings will it?

thiers no physical change in anything, only the map on the ecu

so it would either have to RR'd or have the map checked on their special remapping machine

whihc i find highly unlikely

I spoke to a guy at work today who's previous car was remapped and he didn't tell his insurers at all :?

He reckons that because there is no removal of the ECU the only way to know that it is remapped is by actually driving the car and then noticing that it is faster than a regular GTi!

Personal choice then but I personally will be declaring the remap as I value my insurance - you never know whats around the next corner!!
