lol ok, its actually more punchy torquewise at about 2250 than mine is at 3000

(not saying much, i know, but its definately not short in the tugging department)
but all the same your peak power is above the revlimiter of a standard G, thats why its a good engine setup for a revpimp
that's not saying it won't pull like a god damn train through the entire sensible caning range, because it will (im sure you can confirm that, hehe) but as torque is divided up by the gearing, its the power you have to look for in a straight line fight rather than down the lanes.
PS if you had 162lbft at 1000rpm, couldn't you simply not give it full throttle at that point or slip the clutch a fair bit? I rare give the astra full throttle from the line without being quite careful with the clutch and the revs, as it spins the tyres up easily even with it's comparitively meagre output. I'll more often give it say 2/3rds, then bring on the full power quite quickly once it's rolling to avoid crazy spinnage/slippage.
(a good turbodiesel gives that amount of twist, at 1200, 1500 or so anyway if not exactly 1000, its all a matter of how you deal with it)
just sayin
anyway, 189hp divided by 1.27 = double plus good
