If your is petrol then you should easily be able to pull off the weather cap behind the main beam light and there is a clip holding the bulb in which can be fiddly but you just have to be patient :)

- Take off the rubber weather cap.
- There is a plastic ring that surrounds that bulb, twist that and it will 'click'.
- Pull out bulb with the wiring out.
- Exchange bulbs
- Repeat the above in reverse.

when i gt the bulb out with the wiring (after doing the twist unlock) the bulbs seem pretty stiff, do i just need to pull hard (am scared about breaking them)

Also how does one remove and replace the sidelight bulbs?

i might be wrong m8, but i think its the same.

but the sidelights are a bit trickier to get at :x

the inner most weather cap has to be removed, and then the bulb is up a bit inside it, i find the best way is to watch which bulb is fidgeting from the outside of the light casing.

hope this helps

sidelights are a bit harder....

what i do is bend my arm right round, so my elbow is facing the back of the car, then my fingers can give the release latches a good squeeze

Trying to remove the sidelights, i am presuming that the little nibbler on the top left of the lighting array is what i am after, before i break my car and the vw dealer gets to rub their hands in glee can anyone sugest how to get it out (twist, twist and pull, just pull??)

yes, just squeeze the tabs in the direction of the red arrows, and then pull out.

I had those Philips Powerblue ones and in my opinion they were poo!

For a nice pure white light with a bluish tint, order yourself some pure white LED sidelight bulbs from Ultraleds
