I'm so fking angry

Post by shantybeater »

took my car into a local garage yesterday to get 4 new tyres fitted, the older guy seemed to a good job on the previous car to mine whereas his younger "chav" looking monkey smoked a fag and did very little work, he was asking about my car and what it was outputting & whether i went down the local boy racer haunt in brighton which pissed me off slightly but i let it go, he then went on about his amazing calibra 2.5 litre piece of crap to some guy next to me

Then came to my car getting sorted, he said it would fit on the ramp no problem, i asked if he had lowered cars in before which he replied "yeah mate we ave mercs and them Bmw M's in ere all the time"...so i wasn't overly confident, we did get it up there but the jacks wouldnt fit under my skirts.

Unfortunately the other guy who i entrusted more was busy so I was left with the monkey, he then got what i can only describe as a massive crowbar out & a rubber matt, me thinking surely the matt is to protect my undercarriage...wrong, he puts the bar on the matt & levers the car up using the plastic sill onto two wheels, followed by some cracking sounds as the sill bends dramatically away from the door frame(f**k knows what its doing to the bottom of the sill)....he settles it down & mutters something, then tries again...this time I shout "mate stop you are actually bending the sill away from the car look", not really bothered he puts it back down and says it wont work on this, the other guy comes out & tells us to take it off the ramp so we do...

Then comes the trolley jacks, the older bloke asks me how to remove the jacking point which i begin to reply but the c**k jumps in there ignoring me and wrenches the cover half off snapping the clips so it is hanging off, then he lets me over to it! so i remove my poor clip...

anyways the rest went ok, the car got jacked up & tyres fitted, unfortunately i have come out with this:

good sill:

a**holed sill:

healthy clip :

physically & mentally abused clip:

so folks, if you have a car you care about dont take it to J W R tyres in ringmer, the owner is a nice guy, shame he has some complete dimwit as a partner who has no respect for other peoples stuff.

Any ideas if a body shop will be able to bend the sill back into place? or is it going to be a case of a whole new door sill being sprayed?..

Get a quote to repair it.

Looks to me like it will need re-bonding, which is just a case of applying tiger-seal to the top of the sill and masking the skirt up tight to the body while it dries.

The cover looks like it will need replacing, so part plus paint.

I used to have these skirts on my 6n Polo and those covers do come loose when you need to use them... It's a crap design.

BUT, they shouldn't have used them anyway... Were they using the car's own jack, or a trolley jack? If a trolley jack, then you don't jack under this point anyway!

Nightmare mate!

the kid wouldnt've left the garage alive if he'd done that to my car with me present.

Did the owner not have anything to say about his worker's un-explainable reckless behaviour?!!

tbh i shouldnt have left the place as it was...and i dont really have a leg to stand on...so just going to bend over and take it like a b***h...

good news is apparently the sills are bonded on so its just a case of getting it rebonded, and the front clip can wait to be replaced when i spray the front end....

Gutted mate, some people just don't care do they. I hate taking my car to garages. I always ask them to take care of it too, so they acknowledge if they break something they pay for it

Complete lack of respect! I'v had similar situations before! And its tough to get around them!

Just worth getting it sorted off your own back, save the hassle! Doesn't look liek it will be pricy, plus if your sprayein the front end anyway its all good.

Good luck man :D
