Phone space behind cupholders

Post by BenblueGt »

Hi guys,

Just bought a 2016 BlueGT and I've noticed behind the cupholders under the Aircon unit there is a small cubby hole, I assume it's supposed to be there for a phone to be put in, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a bespoke rubber mat that's been made for it anything like that? Since when I put my phone in there it's just plastic and my phone rattles around a bit more than I like.

You could always buy some cheap rubber sheeting and make your own by cutting the sheeting to size;

Alternatively, put a car duster or microfibre cloth in there to lay your phone on.

What is this part number for, I've done some searching but can't seem to find anything with that part number?

is this a straight slap it in install or are there modifications to be made? Also is it compatible with the 6r/6c or both?

may be worth looking into it. I think it should be pretty easy to hook up a wireless charger to the back of it and have your phone be charged while in that clip.

I can remember seeing a picture on the forum quite a while ago of one fitted. The forum member who posted the picture was querying what the wireless icon was that is printed on it. It’s pretty unobtrusive when it’s in situ as it fits flush up against the back of the cubby, with the small dimpled rubber mat in the bottom of the cubby.

A bit of creative searching via the forum search facility and you might be lucky to find the picture.

To the OP; a rubber mat would be much cheaper though, especially if you buy a sample size from one of the many sellers on eBay and you cut the sample to fit. If it’s not a perfect fit, it’s in a location where it won’t be readily seen.
