GTI vs VRS

Before I start this isn't a thread condoning racing or anything.. Anyway, was coming out of a flyover onto a dual carriageway last night. There was a Fabia VRS up ahead of me. So we get out onto the slip road and he wasn't going too fast so I decided to move into the outside lane. He floored it and ...

Re: Tim's GTI. update thread, ENGINE & INTERIOR PG32

Awesome stuff Tim, that number plate bracket is quite innovative! Wish I was keeping my Polo and kept on modding it, need to save $$$ for the new car though. That said I've just dropped mine off to the bodyshop to get some dents and random bits sorted. Gonna cost me £1150

Re: POLO MK5 GTI FOR £2300?

Seems reasonable to be honest. I was actually browsing at random examples on ebay and a lot are going for more than 3k. Must be holding their value well again

Re: Engine Seized :( ... Value?

That was the first thing i thought of doingg!! :) exactly that. however the engine is in a very bad way its alot cheaper just to buy a new one rather than rebuild it. a couple of weeks ago we had a hell of a lot of rain, went through a massive puddle, basically a river and becuase my car is so low ...

Polo for Mini

My mum has decided to get rid of her Mk7 because the exhaust sensor keeps going at £200 a pop (this is the 4th time it's went, 1st few times it went under warranty). Now she buying a bloody Mini for 13k! Ok fair enough, the Mini is a good car, but there are so much better cars you can have (Fiat 500...

Re: newbie

My car doesn't pull as well in the high gears, probably doesn't help with the peak torque sitting above 3000rpm

Re: newbie

Welcome to the forum from another NE of Scotland GTI owner! I also got a replacement box from Goldings and have the same problem with you regarding ratios. The ratios suit motorway driving but I'm getting slightly less to a tank town driving because I have to stay in a lower gear :( They took my old...

Re: My Gearbox is making a noise

I've heard of reconditioned gearboxes going just 4 months after being fitted. Mine made very slight noises for 10 months, a bigger noise for about a month then 1 day it just totally failed

I'm only gonna use the car Weds - Fri to get to work and keep it at home at the weekend. Hopefully not too much will have leaked out. The noise has disappeared too

Re: New Gearbox is leaking!

Got to wait until Monday now until the garage can check it. What a hassle. The garage opens at 8, is a half hour drive from my house, then to get to my work it takes an hour and I start at 9  I'm assumming it should be ok to drive with a slow leak as I've heard people driving about with gearbo...

Re: Cupra sold, New car pics

Love all those buttons and the red trim, well smart!

My Dad has just bought a year old 335d coupe to replace his Mk5 Golf GTI. He gets it next week hopefully. Beemers are so much cooler than Audi's :D

No doubt I'll miss mine when it's gone. Just now I'm pissed off with it as it's cost me a lot of money this year (over £1400 and counting!) :(

New Gearbox is leaking!

Not good. My mum said she spotted oil under my car a couple of weeks ago, but thought it was builders who had parked there a few times. Today I noticed oil under the car so I checked my engine oil and everything was ok. Having a quick look revealed an oil drip around the gearbox. I drove the car up ...
