A cheaper alternative though is bike carbs.
Basically ITBs, but without the management. All you'd need to do (I think) is make the throttle cable, fit the carbs, get a distributor set up off an older Polo or Golf or something, and tune the carbs.
Not going to be as good, but I'm seriously considering it for the cheapness over ITBs, and it being easier/cheaper to add further upgrades as you won't need a full on remap after adding cams etc, just tweak the fueling/timing a bit.
Not too sure where you'd stand regarding the fuel pump, and the immobiliser though - although I guess the latter isn't an issue as the injectors aren't doing anything, or as long as there's power to the coils, it
should run.
I'd imagine all that you can do for a few hundred ££, which is
seriously tempting considering I just found out I still get student finance grants on a placement year!
*I may have some of that slightly wrong, but I think it's mostly correct.
