Got a mk3 polo coupe 1.3 and ever since i got it has made a loud tapping/ticking noise and just can get to the bottom of it.

I have carried out the following work.
Changed the tappets,
Several out flushes,
Changed the exhaust manifold gasket and downpipe gasket,
checked for air leaks ...

You keep saying that, but they will NOT do it out of warranty at all. I asked and even got a letter from Head Office in Milton Keynes, straight from the horses mouth.

Even so, problem gone away, therefore do not worry about it. Come tell me when its back!

Pedal box is 26 + vat

I then changed the brake pedal and switch to the recommended later design, which cost another 25 quid.

I also got a complete set of new nuts and stuff that you need - since most of them are oval -use once jobs. - £6

The A3 will do the same given a lack of oil!

Well if a bearing fails, its not usually obvious straight away, because the lack of lubrication will usually damage the hard outer surface, you will not usually know until it becomes noisey, and this happens because it starts to wear at a much faster rate.

What I do like about VW is that the proper parts are cheap to buy from the trade counter.

What I do not like is that they just come out with any excuse other than the don't actually know, or can't be bothered to find out.

Ah the brake switch....

That means they cleared the fault code memory and don't have a clue what the problem is. And probably charged an 80 quid diagnostic fee?

So long as they know, if the light comes on again, you will be driving through a VW shop window somewhere near them....
