Routines
Image

As you know, a few weeks ago, I replaced the fuel filter. This wonderful morning, I added a bottle of Liqui Moly 2522 (Injection Reiniger) right before fueling up.
Image

Image

Image

Since the TSI engines are Direct Injection, I wanted to clarify why I’m using it and what to expect:
-What it will do: It cleans the fuel lines, tank, high-pressure pump, and the tips of the injectors to maintain a good spray pattern and prevent corrosion.
-What it won't do: Since it lacks PEA (Polyetheramine), it won't clean the carbon buildup on the intake valves or deep inside the combustion chamber, as the fuel never touches the back of the valves.

My plan is to run this tank completely, and then switch to Liqui Moly 21281 (Pro-Line Direct Injection Cleaner).
In the next 5,900 km I'll perform a deeper clean... along with the oil change, I will use Liqui Moly 2427 (Pro-Line Engine Flush) to clean out any oil sludge from the crankcase, and I'll switch to Liqui Moly 21281 for proper TSI carbon descaling...

Verification that the engine/motor oil is genuine.

I bought two bottles/containers/jugs/cans of the recommended long-life 4L engine oil (according to geographic area) for future maintenance intervals (with sludge cleaning) and checked its authenticity.

Everything must be clear and crisp. The codes can be verified on the official website.

---
Other commonly used tools that I've wanted to try/have for a long time:
-The adjustable funnel with seal for VW engines.
Image

-Quick-connect adapters for my mini 12V OEM VW air compressor pumps.
Image
I will test them meticulously to find out how they interact with the aluminum TPMS valves due to friction wear.🤷‍♂️

Tests with the oil funnel and the quick-connect adapter for tyre/tire inflation.

No comments, just pictures.😊

No damage to the aluminum direct-TPMS valve ✅ 😎, only the same dirt marks as before, which serve as a revealer of potential areas of friction.

The oil funnel (black hole 😁).

Deep uncertainty at the event horizon.
Image
A supposedly "adaptable" funnel that looks idyllic on paper, but hides a dark secret in its fitting zone.

The flawless german vacuum.
Image
A pristine TSI engine oil filler neck, waiting for a clean and steady flow of oil.

A deceptive quantum coupling.
Image
It fits perfectly on the outside! Visually misleading, it looks like a match made in heaven, but the real mystery remains hidden until you look deep inside.

The Event Horizon.
Image
You look inside and... it looks like it was designed to be a stopper 😅, the space left is so ridiculously small that it creates a deep uncertainty as to whether the oil will actually flow or just collapse into a cosmic flood all over the engine bay.

Breaking the singularity.
Image
The spark of creation in full effect 🤭, opening up escape routes so gravity can finally do its job.

The Point of No Return.
Image
Fluid dynamics optimized by hand 😄, the original design has been corrected and adapted to the real world.

Now the oil will flow smoothly without any space-time distortions.

Another suspension-related acquisition.

Calibration remains to be done once installed.

Just for testing purposes, and also to upgrade my current unit 6R0 907 357, which works perfectly.
The installations related to the suspensions (new front shock absorbers, 'etc'...) will have to wait a few more days/weeks.

I will assemble the front shock absorbers -including the additional noise-reduction measures- before removing the old, original ones.
Image

This will improve installation time, allowing me to focus on other suspension components that are also being replaced.

POLO 6R. TPMS unit. Bench-testing flash session.

Using a spare TPMS unit I had lying around in a drawer, I decided to run some bench tests to see if my "0805" instrument cluster software will also be able to seamlessly handle the 2H6 TPMS units (PQ25) at some point in the distant future (due to the change of worn tires and new sensors/valves).
Image

Image

Image
Maybe someone might be interested in some of the images I posted (VCP can handle that too).

---

At the current rate of progress, I guess I'll install the front shocks and springs on my 6R next spring...

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend, without exception!

POLO 6R PQ25. FLA/HBA (High Beam Assist) mirror project: converting an MQB-spec 3G0857511AE mirror to a 'PQ25' version (like 7E0857511G).

Some time ago, during an email conversation with alexperkins (forum administrator) regarding technical automotive matters, a question came up concerning the following topic: https://www.drive2.ru/l/606426293524771900/ (required reading).
My most sincere thanks to Iprot.🤗

I happen to have an HBA mirror—part number 3G0857511AE MQB version 0010—which I purchased years ago but couldn't use for our Golf 7.5 due to BCM compatibility issues. In those days I had to get the correct 'BD' version compatible with the BCM of our Golf7.5.
I am now going to attempt to convert the AE into a 'PQ' version 0003—specifically, a **PQ25** version.

Rather than providing a lengthy explanation, I will show you through images what I believe to be the key to making this conversion a success.

On the T6 forum, I read that the transfer of all adaptation channels must be performed using ODIS because VCDS cannot do it correctly. However, in my experience, VCDS actually handles the transfer of *all* adaptation channels better than ODIS, provided it is done correctly (by applying the 'SA' -Security Access code- during the reading and transfer/restore of the channels).
Image

Image
You can use WinMerge for an exhaustive comparison of the logs/files.
Image
I'll try ODIS if the transfer/restore with VCDS doesn't work as it should.

Other supplementary/informative images.

The usual clowning around.

😄

On the test bench, everything appears to be in order; however, it still needs to be installed in the 6R to confirm/verify that it functions correctly (or not) with the current configuration of the control units in our 6R.

The HBA mirror currently installed, which has functioned perfectly from the time of its installation to the present day.

Unfavorable results in the HBA mirror and TPMS unit TESTS:

-Conversion of an MQB AE-series HBA mirror for use in a PQ25-based vehicle.
It does not work for 'my' 6R, the instrument cluster displays a "Light Assist" system failure warning.
For context: this MQB HBA (AE) mirror already had an existing fault from the past, which is why I attempted this conversion... hoping to resolve that issue along the way.

I completely do not know how such a failure occurred.😁

Diagnostic data indicates that calibration has not yet been initialized; the X and Y axes show unknown values.

The auto dimming function works correctly according to VCDS output tests, detects the activation of the interior light and when reverse gear is engaged, so it can be useful as a auto dimming mirror 'without plastic edges'.😅
Image
I remove it and reinstall the HBA 7E0 mirror (the absolute winner of the HBA battle on 6R). OK!

-Flashing the installed TPMS unit from 3AA to 2H0 firmware. viewtopic.php?p=611067#p611067
The '0805 software' on my instrument cluster is unable to manage the 2H0 firmware. Multiple BAP protocol failures.

I return to the previous state 3AA. OK!

Some days are wonderful, and others are *extraordinarily* wonderful... so, to stay in this state of bliss, I decided not to proceed with the missing headlight-leveling control unit test viewtopic.php?p=610837#p610837 . Maybe I'll tackle that tomorrow. 😄
