2006 Black 3DR Stage 1 Mk5 Golf GTI £7,250

Hello, I'm proud to present to you my Mk5 Golf GTI. Having previously owned a 9n3 GTI I fancied the big brother so purchased this very clean GTI. I have recently had the car remapped by r-tech considered to be the best mappers of VAG cars in the UK. I mapped to increase the drivability of the car an...

Re: Black Polo GTI 6 Speed. Pg21 256mm rears & forged block

Yeah I agree with that. One less thing on your list for when the bug turbo takes your fancy. KO4 hybrid would be the way I'd go, any more and the lag would dull the experience. The point of having a small turbo car is the instant power when you put your foot down. If you want lag and then big power ...

Re: Black Polo GTI 6 Speed. Pg21 256mm rears & forged block

OUCH!

Thats the risk when buying internals second hand I suppose. Glad you've got it all sorted though.

Whats your end goal for this engine wise?

Interior is amazing by the way, best i've ever seen in a polo by far.

Re: Mapped GTi's on Stock?

Thats fair enough mate, It took me about 6 months of waiting for the right GTI for me to pop up, similair to your requirements but white instead :) Yes it has been maintained well so thats a plus point. If it was me i'd overhall all top mounts, bearings, bushes etc to make sure everything is as it w...

Re: machine polishing

A machine polisher is a dangerous thing in the wrong hands. Take a look at this excellent write up. http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=63859 My advice would be don't just jump in and start using it, think very carefully about what you are doing and why you are doing it. Does you'...

Re: New Polo GTI owner

hi Glenn I see your getting around here as well as DW now! If the noise only lasts a few minutes after turning off its nothing to worry about. Tas far as I'm aware a pump keeps churning to cool the turbo down correctly. Does it happen all the time or usually after you've just given it some stick? Tr...

Re: Mapped GTi's on Stock?

Interesting Chris, thanks for the info. Looks like it's something that Will (modded9n) would get done for me if I bought the car, but would have it tuned to stage 1 as it would be a shame not to  Just an air filter and cold air feed for stage 1 + the remap? That's it, and an aftermarket recic ...

New rad for me as well. if you get under the car and feel for a damp patch and look for visible damage you should find it.

Re: Mapped GTi's on Stock?

Its up to revo of course but I would doubt very much that you would have to pay for it to be taken down a map. after all, stage 2 is in essence stage 1 but with a few things turned up slightly higher because the week links in the chain i.e exhaust and intake have been upgraded. so when you think abo...

Re: Removing front shock from 6r GTi

Keep the top mounts done up, use an Allen key to separate the hub. Then place a breaker bar on the flat part of the hub, the use a hammer to hit the breaker bar forcing the hub down.

Lots of wd40 helps as well!

Re: "Lip on the disc or pad"

to be safe replace the pads and discs.

Brake screeching can be stopped by applying copper grease onto the pads before inserting them into the caliper.

Not the side that touches the discs!

Re: Major service 40,000 miles

If the brake fluid hasnt been changed yet it may be worth doing that at the same time. often overlooked and makes a big difference Cabin filter as well! not essential to performance of the car but all the air you breath goes through that first and you will be horrified to see how dirty they become. ...

Re: Car Detailing- South of England- Reccomendations?

Interesting thread as I'm considering whether to get mine professionally done next year as well. Got a few scratches/swirls that need sorting. Take a look at this list . Why are you getting it done now instead of in the Spring? Surely better to get a good coat of wax on to protect against the salt/...
